Chronic Pain Treatment
Dedicated to Health Medical Group is committed to treating patients who suffer from chronic pain. We specialize in treating patients who have received only minimal or short-term relief with pain medications and/or extended therapies, and who may not be good candidates for surgery.
At Dedicated to Health Medical Group we provide healthcare with empathy and compassion because we ourselves have suffered chronic pain and understand the serious ways in which it interferes with quality of life. Our personal experience has led us to find safe, effective methods of long-term pain relief that require a minimal number of office visits.
Well aware of the detrimental effects of pain on mobility, concentration, productivity and enjoyment, we target patients’ pain with PENS (Percutaneous Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation).
Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation for Chronic Pain Relief: What is PENS?
PENS is a wearable device that delivers low-level painless electrical current through three carefully selected positions on the ear. It stimulates a number of neurochemical and physiological conditions known to relieve pain and depression. PENS generates relief by releasing endorphins, the body’s natural opiates.
PENS has been approved by the FDA to treat pain and is covered 100% by Medicare and some types of PPO insurance. Moreover, PENS is minimally invasive and has virtually no side effects if used correctly.
Benefits of Using PENS for Chronic Pain Treatment
Dedicated to Health is proud to have successfully offered PENS to many patients with exceptional results. Below are some of its many benefits and how it works:
- PENS provides continuous low-level pulses at 3-hour intervals over 4 days
- Patients may shower with PENS as long as they wear a shower cap to keep the device dry
- PENS is a popular, successful device — one is applied to a new patient by a member of our pain management team on average every 10 days
- PENS is often extremely helpful after as few as four treatments
PENS: Patient Education: What Ailments Does It Treat?
Based on the research literature, PENS has been shown to be effective in addressing:
- Arthritis and Joint Pain
- Cancer Pain
- Cervical & Lumbar Pain
- Craniofacial Pain and TMJ
- Neuropathic Pain
Typically, relief is experienced after either the second or fourth treatment
What are patients saying about PENS?
“After 8 months of hip pain, I walked the Long Beach Convention over the course of 3 days”
“I’m sleeping for the first time through the night”
“I’m standing straight again”
“I can lift my grandkids”
