The importance of embracing your body before you change it

  • Aug 29 2017

In today’s world, where gossip blogs report on everything from celebrity baby weight to the hottest fitness trends, and social media accounts are flooded with images of bikini bottoms, thigh gaps, and #TransformationTuesdays, it can be easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to others. While some people find this to be motivating and inspiring, others find it to be overwhelming and frustrating. Our hope is that patients recognize how unique they and their bodies are, and how embracing those differences can lead to more effective and efficient lifestyles. This is important to remember whether you are fighting off age-based wrinkles, dealing with joint pain, struggling with allergies, trying to drop 10 pounds, or dealing with other issues. Solutions for all of these concerns and others are different from person to person. You are unique, and the treatment you choose to tackle your areas of concern should be, too.

In our Pasadena clinic, we work with clients in focused individualized nutrition and health promotion sessions. After several years of treating patients, we have realized that the best approach to overall care is a holistic viewpoint that focuses on functional medicine and nutritional therapies coming together.

With this combination in mind, we can help you come to terms with whatever conditions your body is dealing with, including brain wellness, detox, healthy aging, fatigue, arthritis, migraines, asthma, acne, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia, chronic fatigue fibromyalgia, and much more. Since many of these issues often occur in tandem, a holistic approach allows us to work on them simultaneously. We look at your body as a whole instead of treating just one problem at a time.

The better that you understand your body, as well as its strengths and its weaknesses, the more likely you are to work around them and have positive results in your area of concern. To get a better sense of your overall lifestyle and situation, we will schedule a series of sessions to develop a treatment plan. During these sit-downs, we have detailed discussions about your current lifestyle, future goals, and possible modifications. Our initial consultation will last an hour to an hour and a half, depending on your situation. In the following weeks and months, we will have additional sessions to discuss your progress, as well as support through email.

It’s amazing how much positive change can come from simply modifying your nutrition, taking vitamins, and adjusting basic behaviors, like the amount of sleep you get at night. Still, don’t be surprised if we suggest services that you may have not been offered other medical settings. Depending on your situation, we might recommend anything from IV hydration and massage therapy to bioidentical hormone treatments and B-12 vitamin injections. Be open, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

You deserve to feel like the best version of yourself. When problems like poor nutrition, weight gain, and exhaustion stand in the way, it’s easy to feel down and it’s hard to get ahead. Let us help you.
